back to 1st Tata

This camp was intended to help the boys complete their Winter Camping badge and their Year Round Camper badge. Saturday afternoon they built shelter's behind Glenn Forbes' camp. They used tarps for the roof and laid plastic over a bed of fir boughs for the floor.

Despite the rapidly shrinking snow, snowshoes were very helpful on the afternoon hike. As always, the fire and food became the focal point of all after the sun went down. Greg had brought along deer steaks and potatoes and Lynn whipped up some sloppy joes while we were waiting. Dessert was the ever popular hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows. The boys turned in early exhausted and wet from the day's exertions.

Most found their shelter's to be cosy enough and slept well. Sunday we enjoyed a great ham and egger breakfast cooked over the open fire and then we packed away all the gear. Thankfully the predicted rain never materialized and the temperatures were very comfortable.
